Our story

It started with a knife, a hide, and a quiet evening.

And Her Son Co. did not begin as a business. It began as something Desiree could not put down.

How it began

Desiree found leather through tooling

She loved the slow part first. Pressing flowers and vines into a fresh hide, watching a flat piece of leather turn into a whole garden if she was patient with it. She carved crosses and covers and small keepsakes at the kitchen table, one stamp at a time, well before she ever thought of selling a single thing.

The tooling is still the work she loves most, and you can see it in the pieces that carry a little more of her hand.

And then, her son

She handed Wesley a stitching awl

He was young, and he started where nearly every leatherworker starts, on wallets. A few card slots, a straight line of saddle stitching, an edge burnished until it caught the light. He made a lot of them. Some came out crooked. He kept at it, and the crooked ones grew rare.

Wallets are still where Wesley does his most patient work, and where a lot of people meet him first.

Where we are now

Two people, one bench

These days the two of them share a table. She still does most of the tooling, he cuts and stitches and carves beside her, and every piece that leaves our bench has passed through both pairs of hands.

A few pieces have become signatures. The Live Edge sleeve is one of them, cut so the natural edge of the hide becomes the face of the case, no two ever quite alike.

Her tradition. His future. Handmade to last.
